Knee pain can be a frustrating obstacle for many, including seniors. Thankfully, there’s a solution that can help you stay active without discomfort: knee compression sleeves. These sleeves offer support and stability to your knee joint, helping you manage pain and inflammation.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to wear a knee compression sleeve properly for maximum support and comfort and introduce you to FeelGoodLife’s medical-grade knee sleeve that gives instant knee relief and joint support.

A 6-Step Process for Wearing Your Knee Compression Sleeve

Step 1: Choose the Right Size and Type of Knee Compression Sleeve

Selecting the appropriate size and type of knee compression sleeve is crucial to ensure proper support and comfort. Measure the circumference of your thigh 5 inches above your knee cap and consult the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer.

Our FeelGoodLife knee compression sleeves come in various sizes, ensuring a snug fit for everyone. Unlike other brands that offer one-size-fits-all solutions, we know your knee discomfort will only go away if your knee sleeve is the right size.

Step 2: Prepare Your Knee and Sleeve

Before putting on your knee compression sleeve:

  1. Ensure your knee is clean and dry.
  2. If you have any open wounds or sores, cover them with a bandage to prevent irritation.
  3. Turn your knee compression sleeve inside out so the wider end is at the top.

Step 3: Position the Sleeve Correctly

If your knee compression sleeve has a patellar opening, make sure it is centered around your kneecap. Slip your foot through the sleeve and pull it up your leg. Adjust the sleeve so the wider end sits just above your kneecap.

Step 4: Align the Sleeve Properly

Smooth out any wrinkles or folds in the sleeve, ensuring it’s properly aligned with your knee joint. The sleeve should provide even compression around your entire knee without any uncomfortable pressure points.

Step 5: Test the Fit

Bend and straighten your knee a few times to ensure the sleeve stays in place and doesn’t restrict your movement. If it feels too tight or too loose, try adjusting the sleeve or selecting a different size.

Step 6: Care for Your Knee Compression Sleeve

To prolong the life of your knee compression sleeve, wash it regularly with mild soap and warm water. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners, as they can damage the material. Air dry the sleeve, as heat from a dryer can cause shrinkage. It’s essential to replace your sleeve when it starts to lose its elasticity and support.

Additional Tips for Wearing Knee Compression Sleeves

  1. Gradually increase the time you wear your knee compression sleeve. Start with 30 minutes to an hour and work your way up to wearing it for longer periods.
  2. While knee compression sleeves are great for supporting your knee joint during physical activity, they shouldn’t be worn all the time. Give your knee a break and remove the sleeve when you’re resting.
  3. Consult your doctor before using knee compression sleeves or starting a new exercise routine. Knee compression sleeves are not a substitute for proper medical care.

  1. I believe you are very dishonorest in presenting your product. I made several mistakes in using my sleeve. I started out wearing one for 24 hours a day and ended up with a raw sore. I still don't know if it is supposed to be worn inside out. Reference "A 6-Step Process for Wearing Your Knee Compression Sleeve" Step 2. An instruction like "ensuring it’s properly aligned with your knee joint." is not much help. I am not a mind reader.
